Yes I did just post but there was no way really to politely and delicate move on to this topic so I’ll post again, it never rains but it pours…Anyway what little knitting I’ve done this past week was socks. Socks for grandma as the title implies. They are just quick toe up socks in ultra alpaca. Yes worsted weight socks because they are never meant to be worn as anything other than slippers. See I adore my grandma well adore might not be the right word. I admire her, I love her. She was never very grandma like no baking cookies for her but she did make me a belly dancing costume out of old drapes once. My god did she lead an interesting life, and how can I not admire a woman with the guts to leave a man after 54 years of marriage. While I was sad I also just was in awe that she was ready and willing to do that. My grandpa is great but he’s Irish and a lawyer with the temper to prove it. Anyway recently we all found out she has cancer. Recently she also had a very minor heart attack. Yes the big C has struck my genetic tree again. So I thought if she was going to be in the hospital for treatment she might want something other than those disgusting slipper things they give you. I’ve thrown out more of those that my mother had than I can count. Hence the quicky thick warm socks. Since I can’t be there, I wanted to show her how much I love her. I am just glad she’s going to fight it. I don’t know if I was her age what I would do. Anyway behold the socky glory. I also put on the one sock I finished of the garter rib set.
