So today I realized that while it’s all well and good to have the lucy cardi on hold pending buttons I really did need to work on a sweater. Lady E is kind of well boring. I mean once you conquer the whole ‘entrelac is hard’ bit its really just endless stockinette. I have a photo I took last week but I assure you I am further along than this would lead you to believe.
It really is pretty, I just find it sort of dull to knit. I had delusions about having it finished before my trek to NYC later on this month but I think my Clap will be the scarf I bring. Kind of a shame really. But maybe if I am very lucky…ie if I work my ass off… I did progress to the second ball. Which led to all sorts of fun finding where in the ball to start from. So anyway today I bought Wicked. I think the pattern will work well for me and I’m going to swatch the cable pattern to see how it works in the Renaissance I have stashed. My sweater stash is cashsoft dk in two colors, some cotton, the renaissance and some mostly angora I picked up for a song that I keep meaning to over dye. So clearly the renaissance is my only real choice. Well unless I want to do a bunch of math. Which I might end up doing since for a chesty girl like me DK is so much better. But we’ll see I have a bunch of downloaded patterns I’ve bought and I’ve made exactly one. It turned out pretty well for a first sweater. I really want to stretch my sweater skills so another top down raglan isn’t the way to go but I really like the pattern shape. Granted I own sweater design software so designing isn’t exactly hard but I just want to make a new cute top. In keeping with my goal of a sock a week I started and except for binding off have completed a house sock for my husband. I just need him to give me a foot for a final length approval before I bind off and start on sock two. I did not take notes as well as I should have since I did alot of car knitting on these which makes note taking a bit more laborious. No pics yet because well just because. I used worsted lambs pride in aubergine since he shares my love of all things burgundy, purple and weird reds. The ipod he got me for my birthday has helped my knitting more than I even thought it would. I can’t just knit unless its lace and I prefer audio books to tv because well although I like tv I find it a bit too distracting sometimes. Audiobooks let me totally get into this zone. Now the only thing left that I really need is a good chair. I end up at my desk chair alot and its really not very comfy. Mostly I end up at it because I’m married to a total geek and I like to spend time with him. But I still really really really want a chair. Of course I promised him I would cease buying furniture till after we moved again. I still hope for a freaking chair. With an ottoman cause umm comfort. Our couch is alright but its not the most comfy thing in the world and I spent way too much time on it when he was away. If I am very lucky I will find a good one at goodwill for a price he can’t possibly object to. And that way when its time to move I won’t feel guilty freecycling it. Anyway… yeah so I’m already thinking of the next pair of socks. I’m thinking either some lace or jaywalkers or broadripple again. It was so hard to give those socks up. They were really really awesome. More and more I’m realizing the utter need for a pattern database. Something you can search, that has photos. Like I found this really cool pattern somehow but it wasn’t hugely popular like Wicked or some of the other ones so unless you luck out how the heck are you supposed to find it? I’ve been searching for a good way of doing this for a while. I’m not really out to make money though I’d like to maybe earn some yarn money with advertising. All profits would go to the pattern authors and all that. I just think it would be really cool. Yes I know about the free pattern site but hello no pictures…I just need to find a good script to run it. It would be nice if it was maintence free for me. Anyway I’m babbling so I should probably go to bed.
