How do I loathe dead dinosaur….

So Cami wants a harry potter scarf. I suggest she learn to knit. Umm no its *hard* and she’s tried before and couldn’t (ETA she has since learned so GO CAMIemoticon). So I agree that yes somehow I will make time to knit a 7 ft tube in stockinette. Anyway I didn’t mention it for a while as I was busy with that afghan from hell. One day I got the urge to see if she really wanted one she said yes and even sent a check for the yarn. After I get the check and cash it, we’re discussing the yarn and she informs me no she really would prefer dead dinosaur, I mean petroleum by, I mean acrylic. Now acrylic does have its place but I just spent how long knitting that freaking afghan and yes its in dead dino. But sheesh acrylic when you’re in germany?? So I was a wee bit miffed shall we say. A couple of weeks ago claire and I went to the place where yarn goes to retire and I lucked into a full bag of Unger Utopia in the burgundy I needed so at least its not in red heart.  So I take it home and it waits for me to finish the afghan because I refused to start another project till that one was finished. Anyway I have never worked in the round but in knitting I am fearless so I cast on and it looks like crap. I put it aside for a day or so (and worked in glorious alpaca for husband’s scarf)…cast on again it still looks like crap. I investigated some other cast on methods and finally God smiled upon me and it didn’t twist or look like crap. I start to knit, and realize that yes I really should own more than one row counter since I need the other one for Husband’s scarf. Although I am a process knitter this has got to be the most boring kniting *ever* I love the finished product and one day I do want one for myself but seriously endless knitting looms before me broken up only by remembering to note down which round I am in. Also I have this feeling this thing is going to be gigantic. I am almost tempted to stick it on dpn’s so I can trim the size a bit. Cause its seriously looking really really wide. Then again the thought of ripping out 10 rounds makes me want to poke myself with a dpn so I suppose I shall have to keep going. Anyway I have work to do so I can do more knitting later.
