I'm not a high-maintenance, must-match-bag-with-shoes girl, but I do need something to lug everything around in (my husband once asked me why I don't just use my pockets like he does, and I reminded him that my purse holds all the crap that won't fit in his pockets, like ibuprofen, Splenda, and the camera). The purse I have right now is less than medium-sized and it doesn't have a shoulder strap (WHY? WHY DID I BUY ONE WITHOUT A SHOULDER STRAP?), but it has a middle pocket just for knitting. None of the pockets close because it's always stuffed too full. Bah. I'm switching to my backpack again. I agree about purse sizes.
