So there I was yesterday enjoying my almost daily livejournal community reading. Now I belong to a fair number of communities on livejournal, the topics range from cooking and knitting to being a girl geek, scifi and politics. There are quite a few liberals and libtards on there too. I’ve never been sure if that was because livejournal was itself infested with it or if it was because my hobbies were shared by too many libtards. Now before I get accused of being a heartless mean ole conservative let me state being a liberal doesn’t automatically make one a libtard it just predisposes you to it. Anyway, frequently I have been known to be reduced to either a sputter of disbelief, giggling like the mad hatter or rage at such idiocy. But anyway I came across a phrase that struck me as so absolutely asinine that I could not help but giggle. I mean it was so obviously an attempt to be ‘inclusive’ and make the writer sound like a libtard elite. She (and I am 99% sure it was a she because if I recall correctly it was in a knitting community and the percentage of men in those is less than 1%) said something along the lines of “I was wintergifted blah blah”. Did you catch that? I had to read it twice and once I caught it I had to clean up some soda I spit at my screen. Now I loathe the recent trend to say someone has gifted you something even if it is technically correct. It just sounds well snotty. But oh no that wasn’t far enough out there on the branch of libtardus for our authoress she had to take it a step further, she had to go where few really have wanted to go before and she went with ‘wintergifted”. Now perhaps she’s a pagan of some flavor and didn’t want to use the term of the hated enemy (ie Christmas) or perhaps she didn’t want hurt anyone’s feelers and use something that would exclude Christians or Jewish people or Pagans or Kwanzaa or whatever else made up gift giving holidays occur around the end of the year. But lets face facts. I know this is something most of the libtards do not like to do but lets face them shall we. Modern gift giving in December is because of Christmas and Hanukkah and no I really do not want to hear a pagan rant about the antiquity of their made up religion and how the Christians stole it from you. Modern paganism is a made up religion there is no ancient secret lineage that passed down the craft secrets. You have taken known mythological systems and grafted whatever twee hippie make-believe you want on to it. If you don’t believe me google wicca and Gerald Gardner. Now granted she has a perfect right to express herself anyway she wants and if she wants to subject herself to ridicule she’s more than free to, but my God could anyone try to sound more like a stereotypical libtard? This got me to thinking…I studied Anthropology when I was in college and we rather grandly said everyone alive today was a member of Homo sapiens sapiens. However I propose a new split of the human family Homo sapiens libtardus and Homo sapiens commonsensus. I’d love to show off here and point out skeletal differences but I think rather at this early stage in the game it’s cultural rather than physical. Many many books have been written about the cultural split between red and blue staters and about the culture war but I really couldn’t resist putting my nickels worth in. I’ll just list some of the traits associated with both species and discuss them in turn.
- The belief that anything you feel or say is so regardless of the facts. Examples are almost too numerous to cite. It’s too much fun not to refer back to the word of ‘wintergifted’ though.
- The absolute lack of a sense of humor unless it involves feeling superior over those you have deemed less than yourself. This is proven by the whole range of online snarking communities and websites.
- A belief that you have the right to give away other peoples money through so-called social justice when in fact it’s really white washed socialism. For this all you need to see are the difference in taxes paid by the Bush’s vs. the Kerry’s, pay special attention to the percentage of income they were taxed on. The needs of the many do not outweigh the needs of the one, in fact the needs of the one become the needs of the many to paraphrase something Kirk said to Spock.
- That somewhere in the Bill of Rights exists the right to not feel offended. My uncle is a judge and he assures me that it’s not in there. However they wouldn’t know that since I doubt many of them have ever had to read the Bill of Rights.
- That the US is a hateful place which has done little more than trod on the funny brown peoples everywhere.
- That Saddam was a nice peaceful sort who never had anything nasty in mind for the US. Oh gee what about those mass graves we found? What about the State Rapists he had on staff? What about his attempted slaughter of the Kurds? What about his proven ties to terrorism and his absolute hatred of the Great and Little Satan’s
- That Israel is always in the wrong and the Palestinians are always in the right.
- That a meritocracy is in fact racist and sexist.
- Oh and the most fun of all is that those who differ in belief from you are not in fact worthy of consideration or even common courtesy. The comments on Regan’s funeral over at moonbat central I mean democraticunderground.com should be more than enough evidence on this.
- That unless you are one of the beautiful and elite why not just die, I mean who would want to live like that. No one in his or her right mind would want to be a vegetable. Or rather lets take an even better example that children born with easily fixed birth defects such as a cleft palate should in fact be put out of their misery. Never mind the fact that that’s something the real nazi’s did to those they felt were a drain on society and no matter how much you pretty up the words that is exactly what it is.
Let us now contrast that with traits that I associate with h. sapiens commonsensus:
- The sure knowledge there is a difference between fact and make believe.
- The ability to laugh at yourself and others instead of just others.
- That someone is entitled to the fruits of their labors. If they want to give to charity it should be a choice rather than a state run obligation of tithing.
- That the Bill of Rights is beautiful as it is.
- The sure knowledge that the US has achieved the maximum amount of freedom for the maximum number of its citizens in the world. We may not be perfect but we’re a hell of a lot better off than any other place on earth. And yes I include the socialist paradise of Canada in this statement. I’ve lived there chances are you haven’t.
- No matter why it happened the world is a better place without Saddam’s hand on the big shiny green button.
- That there is never an excuse for targeting innocents like the homicidal bombers do.
- That giving someone preferential treatment for something they can’t help (ie. race or sex) is in fact racist and sexist. I once got a job in IT solely because I in fact lacked a penis. Never mind the fact that I was actually qualified, in fact it appeared to be a pleasant surprise to them that I was. It was solely because I was a woman.
- While I might in fact not like this, look at the general politeness of republican politicians in the face of such egregious leftist lies.
- That life is worth living. I personally would rather err on the side of life than on the side of nazi like exterminations.
Now I know you’re saying there are more…Well of course there are. Just as there is wide variation in the former species known as h. sapiens sapiens, there exists wide variation in
h. sapiens libtardus and h. sapiens commonsensus but I have to leave material for other rants don’t I? Next rant shall be entitled “Modern Pacifism: Cowardly Ostriches”
Oh, how much I love my SWILSM’s rants.
