Since I started this diet by the scale I have lost 7 lbs. Thats very very good if a little quick. I’m positive a big hunk is water weight but you know…I’ll take what I can get. My goal is to reassess about 24 lbs from now. No matter what the freaking bmi/weight tables say I’m concerned if I go much lower than that I’ll look disgusting. I carry a whole lotta muscle. I just want to be able to wear my wedding dress when I go pick up HWKDD (Husband decided He Who Kicks Down Doors was more accurate than He Who Slays Orcs). Before you go and freak out my wedding dress is a very cute black and pink dress We eloped and I had like one day to shop pretty much since we were engaged for all of a week. So if I can wear it and not look like el sausage or miss piggy… I’ll be very happy. Though knowing myself I’ll probably opt for something vastly more comfortable since God only knows how long a process that will be. Also it will most likely be cold. I got married in the south and it was very very hot. Anyway…Let me bitch about the diet. It so totally sucks. Sure its working but my god if I don’t have something other than turkey soon I will go and eat a whole cow. I am very picky about the chicken I buy and when I went to the store they were out of the stuff I usually get hence the turkey. Yesterday I tried to fix Ishtahar my other box it did not go well. I think she might have fried her brain. If so I did get a good 5 yrs out of her and assuming her HD is still good an enclosure and I can sort of do without her. But I’d rather she be fixed. It was very frustrating in my food crazed irritable state though. I also finished two very good books since I last posted, An assembly such as this. Its the Pride and Prejudice story told from Darcy’s perspective. I quite like it. I should have been a gentlewoman in the regency period I swear. I also finished Riding Rockets which was a memoir by a shuttle astronaut. Also quite good. Actually it made me question my life long dream of NASA. I mean I know its not going to happen now but if I won powerball my first check would be to the russians to get myself on a Soyuz. I’d also still strap myself to a shuttle if they would let me. HWKDD thinks I am crazy. But he is not the space geek I am. I really think opening up space to human colonization and exploration would do a vast deal of good. Things always are better when there are new frontiers and horizons to explore. No matter what the reasons behind the Apollo space race I am so incredibly proud that Americans were first. And to this day the only people to set foot on another planet. I just wish things had continued. I wish we had had a POTUS who was willing to back the program instead of allowing it to be gutted. Apollo applications and follow up would have yielded much more data than the shuttle. We should never have allowed Skylab to fall. And we should have gone to mars already. There is no reason we couldn’t have done it using apollo hardware. I think perhaps I’m too much influenced by that Stephen Baxter novel voyage and Children of Apollo. Still all and all these are things that should have and could have been done. But of course there was ‘no reason’ to since the damn hippies were whinging on about the welfare state and Vietnam and Nixon of course hated it because it had to do with Kennedy. One thing I found interesting in riding rockets was how the air force treated its shuttle astronauts but considering the political animosity they have towards NASA its not shocking. I am rather surprised though that the author was not aware of all the nastiness surrounding shuttle design. And just how pissed the Air Force was when their space program was cut. You can see the hatred ooze out of Yeager’s books very clearly. I actually think the AF should have a space prog. It is the ultimate high ground. I just don’t think it should replace NASA. I think NASA should partner more with civilian companies so that perhaps one day we will have SSTO. It is a holy grail however for exploratory purposes I think heavy lift capacity would be better. Base it off the Buran design. I just want to get to mars! Anyway I should go I need to work out and bake cookies for the FRG pot luck tonight. Also need to fill out the customs forms and hit the Post Office to send off the stuff for my HWKKD.
