Ever since I was a wee baby knitter… last year, I have wanted to make the "My so-called scarf". It’s one of three scarves I must make, the other two are the Multidirectional silk scarf, and the Vintage Velvet scarf from scarf style. I own the yarn for the silk one and I plan on getting the yarn for vintage velvet at some point soon since I have a fear it will be discontinued. Anyway I have tried making my so called scarf out of some mountain colors I bought and now some malabrigo. Granted both of them were fairly similar colorways (reds and burgundies) but neither one is working for me. It just doesn’t look as nice as I envisioned it. I suppose I’ll have to go manos shopping and find something a bit more dramatic for it. Anyway since I am desperate to find something to knit I tried broken rib with some brown sheep and it wasn’t working for me either. However I might make a horizontal drop stitch scarf out of it. I think it will be fairly interesting and a bit less girly than the other ones I have made.

The Christmas Haul
Long ago I convinced 98% of my family to send me a check for the holidays. It does seem sort of impersonal but I can be a bit difficult to shop for since everything I tend to want is stuff you *really* want to pick out yourself. So anyway I had a bountiful plenty to go yarn shopping with. So I did:) I also had my mom buy me some yarn as my present from her. Since I did sort of put all the money in one big pot I can’t really say who got me what other than what my mom got me but….I have to do some yarn pron anyway. First and foremost I invested in a swift and ball winder. I knew I wanted a ball winder and the first shop didn’t have one but the second one did. After having something of a disaster winding some off a chair I decided to get a swift. I did not want a plastic swift. Besides the prices they wanted for the plastic ones were insane. But the Myers house weaving dept had a wooden one. Though a piece of the first one was cracked and I had to exchange but oh well:) I do lerv it beyond all belief and its fun. I love winding variegated and hand paints just to see the patterns. Anyway on to the haul
