Lighting, Plumbing, Etc

Posted by – August 31, 2008

So as of yesterday the house looks like this. There has not been any huge changes because they have been working on the electrical and the plumbing. However they did get the windows hung. Well most of them anyway.

I was inside yesterday and it really struck me just how much I love that floorplan. I made exactly the right choice.  Anyway Friday Justin and I went on a mad dash to pick stuff out. We had varied success depending on the store.  First up was the appliance store. We have our pathetically small allowence that we have to spend there. I didn’t love the sales clerk however I rather do like the idea of buying local.  They can get the bosch dishwasher I was convinced I wanted. However she said they have had some issues with the few they have sold and also have had some issues getting parts. She suggested I look at Kitchen Aid or Jenn Air or Maytag instead. By the way all links on this entry go to their listings at Us appliance. At this point it’s between the KA, bosch, and JA. Her prices really are very good.  On the microwave issue I’m getting this one. It’s a Ge Convection microwave so theoretically I can use it instead of heating up the big oven.  Also since I can’t really get the double oven range I wanted it makes sense.  At this point I am thinking either Fridgedaire, Bosch, or Jenn Air on the range. It comes down to what do I want to spend.  I will have to call her and get a quote on the Jenn Air and Bosch ranges.  She priced out a Fridgedaire fridge but I’m not thrilled with it. I don’t like the interior and it’s not that much less than the samsung I really want so we’ll see. Anyway on to the plumbing place we went. We were met there by UTTER failure. They didn’t have the sink I wanted in stock nor did they have the faucet I wanted. So it was on to the lighting place we went. Now the lighting place was by far the BEST stop of the day.  We went with oil rubbed bronze. Also they had the faucet I wanted. So now I am rethinking my initial choice of a stainless sink for a white/bone one so it won’t clash. The lighting took a while but at least it’s done. The tile place was a waste since I can’t really pick tile until I pick cabinets. So I quickly left there. We tried to hit the carpet place too but they were closed for the holiday I guess. All and all not a bad days work.  So far the only things I’m not thrilled with are the door. I was hoping for a square glass insert like my neighbors. I’m going to ask if it’s too late to switch it.  So hopefully this week will firm up some of those choices.

I Rock

Posted by – May 17, 2006

Taken from an email today from my oh so fabulous husband:)

You have been doing such an excellent job of holding
down the proverbial fort and taking care of things and
taking care of me over the past couple of years, esp
the past few months that I've been gone. I really
appreciate what you've done, and I don't think I
mention it enough. You are the bomb, sweety. I just
ws frustrated because I wanted to know what they were
doing with our money, and really hadn't had liberty to
check with you with all the commo blackouts to find
out what happened in detail and what I needed to do to
help if anything.

I'm glad they finally started to decide to work with
us and fix it. ;) You rock, babe.

Random Updaterie from St. Louis part Deux

When last we left off I had pretty much just arrived in st louis. It’s been a fun trip, sometimes I forget how much I miss having more of a social life. Anyway lets see I should just list the highlights. I’ve been yarn trolling of course, Had lunch with my mom and grandma. That was a lot of fun. Went to a baseball game. Don’t laugh I wanted to see the new stadium. Ok it is kind of funny considering I am so very much not a sports fan. Husband apparently got a good laugh out of the idea. Saw the history of violence which was good I guess. Well I actually wanted to discuss it so it couldn’t have been a total flop. Anyway after that we skipped the lecture. I was too hungry to sit through a shrink discussing it. Then oddly I had one of those moments where I just had to leave. See these people from the film/lecture turned up at the steak and shake and proceeded to talk to our very sweet waitress like she was some exotic zoo animal because she was black and working her way through college. I remember being on the other end of that and well I just wanted to turn around and say something to that effect but my good manners won out. Last night I had dinner with Don and Sharon which was unexpectedly picked up by a friend of Don’s who was working there. That’s one of the things I both love and hate about this city, you just never know who will turn up where. And tomorrow is mothers day which means breakfast with the fam so I had best get to bed.

If Husband is home why am I writing…

Well…because he’s playing his new video game and I’m not quite awake enough to dive into the terror that the book I’m planning on reading next will inspire. FYI its called Tehran Rising and its all about the coming challenge of Iran. Since I’ve been having minor freak outs about the idea of a Nuclear Asshat country, I’m sure I’ll be popping the Valerian on that read. But anyway…Its so incredibly nice having him home.  I feel like I’ve relaxed for the first time in months. Its also nice to know he’s pretty much the same old Justin. So that’s a total relief I had visions of finding out I was married to someone totally different than who I had married. I can’t express how glad I am. Since I get quite well incensed these days at the news I’m in the planning stages of yet another blog. I don’t really like to mix personal stuff with stuff others might read which is why I have this one and the knitting one and soon to be the political one. Just sort of scouting for a domain name for it. I love seekinglibtards.com but the consensus seems to go with redstategirl.com, though at almost 30 I’m not sure I can reasonably use the word girl any more. Anyway we haven’t really done anything earth shatteringly exciting that I’m willing to share;) But anyway… I suppose I should get going I have stuff to do.

I *heart* scalia.

Why did I wake up at 3:30 this morning…

Posted by – March 9, 2006

Maybe it’s because I fell asleep a wee bit too early or maybe it’s because I was having one really bizarre dream that I doubt I could explain enough to do justice too. At any rate here I am! This week has mostly been trying to get caught up week. I’m not quite sure why or how I fell behind as much as I did but well I did. I think I’ll blame the dog. I have a ton of mail to go through still and I have to take the car in for some free emissions thing from honda. But after that and the scrub of the kitchen I should be in pretty good shape. Ugh the kitchen. I have been avoiding this forever. Its not like its unhealthy in its not cleaness but its not as sparkley as I like it to be. But today that will change! I also cleaned the carpets this week or the areas that needed a little help at anyrate and scrubbed the rest of the house. Like I said such an exciting life but oh how it needed to be done. This week has also been busy with FRG stuff. I keep reminding myself that I am doing good when I get frustrated and if it gets bad I call my fellow cohort and vent. Depending on the weather next week will be work on the outside week. I want to get a move on that so it looks nice for Justin when he comes home. Steve visited this weekend since originally I had planned to head down to Atlanta on Saturday to see a show (but maybe its age but I really did not feel like driving that long for a concert even if it was one of my favorite bands) so he came up here and we watched some house and went to a totally crappy movie he wanted to see called Ultraviolet. It had its moments but meh not the best thing ever. My sock class is going well though I continue to wonder why I bother taking knitting classes when usually I can teach myself anything I want to know. But its fun. At any rate I am aware its no longer freakishly early since I went back to sleep.
