Size: Me ( I think I made the large)

Pattern Notes: I changed the bottom ribbing to be symmetrical because I decided the other way was sort of silly looking. I also want to point out in the photo below that really cute twisted stitch up at the top. Now I know this sucker lacks buttons but I ended up lengthening a bit and I need 22 buttons. I really have been unable to find 22 of the same button in anything I actually liked. Since I never button these suckers anyway I figured why not just wait for the perfect buttons…

Would I knit it again? Probably not. I’ve been reading a blog series on flattering your body type and this isn’t really for my body type.

Pattern Notes: So I’m a total moron sometimes. I started this way way back when I had pregnancy brain. I picked it up every so often but I was under the deslusion I really had to keep track of where I was in the pattern. This meant I only picked it up when I knew I had the time to finish the 4 rows. So then one day I’m looking at the pattern and I realize that somehow in the haze of a hormone induced idiocy I had neglected to realize that except for the opening 4-5 stitches the pattern is exactly the same and that I could always tell where I was based on where the previous rows yarn over had been.
Would I knit it again? I think I would. It turned out well.

So my stress level lately has been through the roof. Oddly since it coincided with a cold I was unable to use my usual stress relief (cleaning/cooking) and I turned back to my knitting. So I set myself a goal which was to work furiously on my WIPS. I gave myself a week to finish the socks and I did. Well for the most part I did fall asleep a few rows short and had to finish it up the next day. However I am now down to 3 wips. I even have tentative plans for my next project when theses are finished. Anyway without further ado…

Pattern: Garter Rib Sox
Yarn: Dream in Color Classy in Gothic Rose
Needles: KP Options sz 4
Size: Me
Pattern Notes: This was a quick knit. Even though I did make the cuff longer than I usually do. I really like the garter heel for house sox. It goes much more quickly than picking up the wraps with a usual short row heel. The sox are thick and comfy and hopefully won’t wear out too fast. Also since this is my 2nd FO out of the same yarn…what can I say but I love it. However I will be looking forward to working with actual sock weight next time around.
Would I knit it again? Yes of course but as I’ve knit 3 0r 4 of this particular stitch pattern I think perhaps I should broaden my horizons.

Garter Rib

Garter Rib

Garter Rib

Now I still have 3 wips left. I have the strangling vine scarf, the knitscene garter yoke cardi, and the simple style cardi. I have not made much progress on the scarf since it requires actual concentration. Elke keeps varying her wake up time so its hard for me to get up early enough to wake up enough to work on it before she desires my attention. It is about half done though. I preblocked it to see and I think it’s about halfway there. The simple style cardi is an inch or two away from being divided for front and back. The pattern seems to come out really short so I’m adding a couple of inches to make sure I get enough length. So far the cashmerino is holding up really well but we’ll see what sort of pillfest I end up with after I wear it for a while. The garter yoke cardi was what I was working on before I went on my sockfest. It’s getting there. I enjoy the yarn but I’m terrified I’ll run short since garter takes up a freaking ton of yarn so I actually bought a few lightly used balls off someone as insurance. So hopefully I’ll in a week or so I’ll have another FO to talk about!

I had decided to go with Dream in color’s gothic rose for yarn because *cough* well if you knew me 10 yrs ago you’d understand. I was oh so very goth. At least until I decided it was time to at least go for art fag librarian instead of Elvira. Anyway without further blathering…

Pattern: Clapotis the Social Diease
Yarn: Dream in Color Classy in Gothic Rose
Needles: Addi Interchangeable sz 8
Size: Me
Pattern Notes: Everyone has made it haven’t they? However I did twist the stitches on either side of the dropped stitch to prevent biasing. I do wish yet again I had made it larger but I could block the sucker more aggressively.
Would I knit it again? Yes of course but I’m not sure when…

Well now it sure has been a long time. After my last post I went into packing and cleaning mode so I was pretty busy. Then we moved into the new house. I love the house. I’m still working on it and in fact I’ve rearranged since I took those photos.

However I’m going to wait to take more till the tv thing above the fireplace is closed off and I have it painted. Anyway after that I had to get my husband ready to deploy. Also we found out I’m pregnant.

I’ve got about 15 weeks left before I give birth. We’re having a girl and naming her Elke Sophia unless I can’t stand it by then.

Pregnancy has been interesting, they found out I’ve got thyroid issues which explains why I’ve been so tired for so long. Anyway lets just say with the tired and trying to get the house organized I haven’t been doing much knitting. I have been working on another Clap out of dream in color. So hopefully it will be done in a day or so and I’ll have pictures. I also started Strangling Vine. It’s a nice fingering weight lace scarf. I’m doing it in this blackish purple sock yarn I got from knitting notions.

I still haven’t finished that black cardi since I won’t be able to wear it for a while so I lost motivation. However I did finally get an FO shot of my wicked cardi. Which although nice looking fits almost no-one. Oh well I did it in yarn I didn’t really care about and it was a steeking experiment.

So I will try to blog more often but we’ll see.

Obligatory Yarn Pron above. God do I love my new camera! The D40 probably would have been ok but I really use the LCD screen on the top a lot. The only reason I sort of wish I’d gone for the 40 was so I could have had money to get the Sony Ereader I desire. I haven’t been knitting a whole lot since I seem to want to sleep the minute I start. What I have been doing is a whole lot of reading. 20 books in the past three weeks more or less. Anyway a while back the most fabulous Mj put me on her make my day meme list. So in No particular order here is my list. I’m limiting the list to people I actually know at least via IM or Ravelry or have at least had an email conversation with just cause while there are plenty of bloggers who I admire well they already made tons of peoples lists.

Mj: Cause she writes amazing patterns and is smart and she knits fast. Also I love her styro head for hats. Also she is on im and always manages to cheer me up.

Sarkasmo: She’s knits like the wind and I always admire her dedication to the highest form of humor.

Yarn Abuse: Her photography is gorgeous and she is one of the funniest bloggers I read.

Kraftie: She has a stash that’s even bigger than mine. She spins in ways I can only dream of and she’s a good friend.

Shannon: She’s fun! She never makes me feel like a dork for frogging or for my occasional odd obsessions in the knitverse! And I want to steal her last clap! Also I’m too lame to have a podcast but she does.

Mszzzi (knit blogless): She’s my good friend from back when I lived in Chicago. I wouldn’t even knit at all if it wasn’t for her. And she always makes my day because you can’t not be happy when she’s around.

Shortrow: She’s local. She started me off on knitting. She’s tons of fun. I envy her mini. We take fun field tribs to fiber stuff. And she constantly reminds me forcefully if necessary that not everything needs to be perfect.

And on to the FO.

Pattern: I found the pattern on flickr and added it to my standard toe/heel combo
Yarn: Str Lightweight in Lenore
Needles: Kp size 1’s
Size: My foot 64 sts around.
Pattern Notes: I hated these until I finished them. The only reason I didn’t frog was I was shocked I hadn’t had any pooling. I think on the foot they look nice but off the foot they look like ass. I was also not thrilled with how the colorway knit up. It was the one colorway from the club I really thought I loved and for some reason it’s not that great. Perhaps it was a case of expecting too much.
Would I knit it again? Probably not. Maybe though in a semi solid.

1. Thermal

Pattern: Thermal (picture forthcoming need the man to take a pic.)
Yarn: Rowan Cashsoft 4 ply in Logan Berry
Needles: Kp size 2.5’s
Size: Me Me Me (38)
Pattern Notes: This pattern rocks. Ok I changed the neckline. It is toasty warm, straightforward to knit. The only thing to remember is it is one big sock. I’m glad I suffered through the tubular cast on too it makes the sweater.
Would I knit it again? Yes but perhaps next year. I would also go with garter rib as I think it would be more flattering.

2. Charade Socks

Pattern: Charade Socks
Yarn: Shibui Socks
Needles: Kp size 1′s
Size: Me Me Me
Pattern Notes: I liked the pattern. I would not do an inch and a half of ribbing for the next pair. I was also glad I didn’t get really terrible pooling.
Would I knit it again? Yes

3. Le Slouch

Pattern: Le Slouch (modeled by a bowl since I didn’t want to wait for the man to take a pic)
Yarn: Berroco Ultra Alpaca in Redwood Mix
Needles: Kp size 8′s and 9′s
Size: Me Me Me
Pattern Notes: Awesome pattern. Quick, easy, and pretty!
Would I knit it again? Sure

So what’s next…Well last week I gave my grandma my social disease since she liked it so much so I think I need another one. Or another midrange scarf. I have lady e but she’s huge and I have vintage velvet but she’s not so huge. I have lornas but the colors suck( at least for me). I have no idea what I was thinking when I ordered it.

I also have alchemy in enough but I was thinking of using it for something else so I am really torn.

Pattern: My usual sock with the slip stitch rib from MSKS
Yarn: Misty Mountain Farm, Colorway- Apple Rose
Needles: Kp size 1′s
Size: Me Me Me
Pattern Notes: Because of the ribbing they look far more narrow then they are. The slip stitch pattern did do an excellent job of breaking things up so they didn’t pool. I did have to fudge the stitch pattern a bit to make it fit and if I were to do it over again I would alter it more. These were my best heels so far though. They did take a while but I was working on two sweaters at the same time plus I’ve not had as much time or energy to knit. Also I am the worlds slowest knitter.
Would I knit it again? Sure. However there are a million sock patterns out there so…

Lady Eleanor, started January 28th, 2007, finished June 27th, 2007
Pattern: Lady Eleanor from Scarf Style
Yarn: Noro Silk Garden Colorway 82
Needles: Kp Options Size 7′s
Dimensions: 19″ x 71″ excluding Fringe
Pattern Notes: Super easy Pattern. I did change the fringe because I thought the other would get ratty looking and my cats might kill it. It was fun but I did call it the black hole of entrelac because it seemed to take forever. I would suggest making sure you get gauge since I didn’t and ended up with over 70 tiers instead of the 37 in the pattern.
Would I knit it again? Yes assuming I got gauge.

Would I knit it again? Yes Mostly because I want a pair and they are really comfy. However they were kind of dullsville on the fun front so I would have to do something to make them more fun.
