I haven’t posted in far too long. My non-knit blog is even worse. I just don’t feel too compelled to write about the glories of spring cleaning;) Anyway that’s why this post is so long and photo heavy. I also moved the camera and tripod back where they do actual good since putting them away just meant I didn’t post photos.

Finished Socks:

Project:
Broadripple Socks in artyarns
Needles:
Knit Picks Options in Sz 2
Notes:
Nothing to really note. I’m not totally thrilled with how these turned out but they are very comfy. I just wish I had chosen a different pattern for this yarn.

Stash Enhancement: So recently I’ve done more than a small bit of stash enhancement. It all started with buying a present for my friend Mszzzi. She’s never done socks so I bought her some STR in rolling stone to get her addicted. Anyway while I was handling that I asked them about some older colorways. One was possible but the one I really wanted wasn’t. However I might have found a fix for that. Anyway while placing my order I also ended up getting two other skeins. So now behold my lovely new STR. From left to right they are Backstabber, Mustang Sally, and Tanzanite. I also found about the sale at knit happens. I spent way too much. I am almost ashamed to post what I got after that birthday haul. However I couldn’t not get anything at those prices. However I think I’ll wait to talk about that since I haven’t gotten it yet. It’s supposed to arrive tomorrow. I can’t wait to see it.

Fiber Fest:
So this weekend we all went to this fiberfest. A good time was had by all. The vendor room was pretty decent but for some reason I was expecting more. However the three people I actually spoke with were quite lovely and interesting. I got two patterns (entrelac bag and felted clogs) and two skeins of sock yarn. The yarn came from a local (nashville) dyer called Knitting Notions. She had some truly glorious stuff but I restricted myself to the sock yarn. From left to right they are called aubergine and stormy seas. It’s funny but all three of us got stormy seas.

The other cool thing was seeing ariann in person. Having seen it in person that is high on my list of things to knit. On the way home we saw this:

So how could we do anything but stop for lunch. The food was shockingly good and the menu had a boobie burger. I still giggle at the thought of it.

WIPS: So I achieved negetive knitting for much of the past couple of weeks. In one week I ripped out three different sock toes using different yarn and had to restart Wicked twice. Once because I decided I didn’t like it in cotton and then when I decided I was being stupid and should make it in the cotton because I had used too large of a needle. It’s coming out beautifully now though I have some sizing concerns. However since cotton grows it should turn out alright in the end. Here it is in all its *cough* glory.

Lady E is plodding along though I have very little desire to knit on it since its already 85 outside. So this week I hope to finish Wicked and get some socks going. Also should add some more to Lady E.

Knit-Tragedy Part 2

Posted by – March 11, 2007

Shall we start with the good things or the tragedy? Might as well get the bad stuff out of the way quickly and move on to the good. It has been ages since I blogged but I haven’t been doing any blogworthy knitting. Anyway the tragedy…so last weekend I was happily working on my sweater. and I got to one point and was off a stitch. No big deal I did a non-noticable fix and moved on….Several rows later I realize that I had made one of my boxes too small and one too big so I had two diamond thingys that were off. I pondered and realized that was unexceptable since part of the charm of the sweater is the geometric pattern. I briefly considered forging ahead but my inner perfectionist told me not too. So I started to rip back. At this point that yarn had been knit up oh what was it 4 times….so I said meh and ripped it all out! I will be doing a sweater soonish, I’m just thinking of doing a quick wicked for my mom instead. I will make that cardigan since I love it that much. Just not right this instant.I must have been in a ripping mood last week since I also ripped out the half a sock I had done. It was several rows back and when I started I was just going to rip to before the mistake. I however in my infinite stupidity lost track of how many rows I had ripped so I decided…nah lets just start over. The good news is that I cast on yesterday and I am already turning the heel. I want these suckers done! I love the yarn but the yarn and pattern are not a great combination. However since I only wear them in the house…They’ll be fine. Or I might just ship them off to my granny. I told her I’d make her another pair and since I have solid ideas for the next pair….I’m thinking that these should be hers;) We’ll see. Its getting warmer so wool socks aren’t as important. Justin has been wearing the heck out of his socks. I didn’t think he’d wear them so much…but its nice to know it gets used. Lady E has grown another 10″ or so. Yet again I claim worlds slowest knitter. Actually its not that I am that slow, I just haven’t been knitting as much as I normally would. I’ve been working on my less than secret knitting project. And by the time evening comes around and I clean up from dinner its usually time for bed. I also lost four days for a trip which ended up involving very little knitting.Anyway…I’ll take some photos when I finish the socks.
