The Clap

Posted by – October 14, 2006

Pattern: Clapotis
Yarn: Misti Alpaca worsted in Aubergine
Needles: Knit Picks Circs size 7
Notes: Well what can I say about the clap that hasn’t already been said before? I mean I think almost everyone in blogland has made one. That being said I made this for a specific dress and it was the first time I had really done that. The variation I did purled instead of using markers and I twisted on either side of the dropped stitch. If I made it again I’ll mirror the twists and might use markers cause I think it would go a hell of a lot faster. The yarn was fantastic thought, really even and no knots. I enjoyed the project though towards the end of the straight section I was ready to stick a needle in my eye. I wish it had blocked out a tad bit bigger. Its about 22″ x 62″ But anyway its done. If I ever get a hold of the alchemy yarn I want I’ll make another. It would make fantastic a gift.

eh so it’s been a month?

So yes in fact I do suck. I am comfortable with that fact though. I have a reason an excuse though. My mom came to visit which put me off blogging for a while. Besides most of what I have been doing is preparing for HWKDD to come home. As you can imagine I am so excited  Even the cats can’t wait to see him as you can see from the way they swarmed around me earlier when I was talking to them.

Yes yet another crazy cat lady behavior but you know I think they understand part of what I say. So I finished the item for the outfit for when he comes home.

Of course now I’m considering not wearing it cause um its going to be cold and there is all sorts of army fuckitude with how the thing is arranged so perhaps something more casual (ie no heels required) would be better. Maybe I can pull off the dress with boots. I have some time so I’m sure I’ll be ripping the closet apart when its time to get dressed. So I was looking people up that I used to be friends with and found out my best friend for the age of 12-15 has had a kid and turned into a total peacenik. Well the peacenik part is destiny. Even back then I remember the house being strewn with  Mother Jones and stuff so…But it was an odd sensation to realize she probably would want nothing to do with me because of HWKDD. I can’t imagine being that incensed over it all. It kinda made me sad is all. So my plans for the weekend are to work on the books and do some grocerying and just sort of relax a bit. Once I get all the rectangles organized and the last of the closets there isn’t that much left to do to the house other than a good clean and its stupid to do that now. I’m really worried about my grandparents sounds like things aren’t going well with them. I love them so much I hope I am able to spend some time with them before they don’t remember me. Well on that less than cheery note I suppose I’ll go make my huge knitting update.
