Jaywalkers 2.0

Posted by – July 2, 2006

I’ve been in a bit of a knitting funk lately. I have yarn I have 3 sweaters worth. A whole bunch of scarf yarn. A bunch of sock yarn with more on the way and yet nothing felt right. Part of it is the needle issue since I am ordering the new knit picks needles and I don’t want to switch needles in the middle of a big project like the clap so that pretty much left me with umm socks. So why not do jaywalkers. But I figured I’d switch the yarn. Just to make it different. Plus ok I was hungry to use the lorna’s laces. It knits like butter…I am in serious love. It’s so much softer than bearfoot. So I did the ribbing and a couple of rows. It’s glorious. Much less splity and also easier to fix when making a mistake. I should also start something else so I can switch off. It’s the damn needle problem again since I refuse to switch off in the middle. Hmm….I suppose I’ll figure out it soon enough.

God I hate hats…

So I’ve made a sweater. I’ve even made lace but a hat seems to be way beyond my abilities. It’s just been one of those weeks. Ok so when last you joined me through sheer lack of knitterly inspiration I had decided to do the damn hat. I’ve never really had the urge but I did offer about six months ago so figured I’d get it out of the way. Just one of those things… Well attempt #1 didn’t go so well, it was almost a yarmulke Attempt #2 didn’t either so last nights work was frogged. So then I figured I’d do it today. So I plopped my butt down on the couch and decided to work on my hat and work my way through the entirely too large back up on tivo. So I happily knit away and then suddenly I am done. So I get it off the needles and its way too fucking small. Baby hat small even. There is an infant I could give it to I suppose. Or I could rip back and try adding length. Or I could start attempt #4. Which would mean possibly redoing the math since I think my gauge was all off. I just hate the idea of doing it AGAIN. Or I could do another project. I’ve been considering it but I really sort of kind of want to wait for the knitpicks needles so anything other than socks is out. So the knitting adventure begins again..Just take my needles away before I have to make another hat.
